Guest Artist - Solomon Parham
Solomon Jamal Parham began his musical endeavors at the youthful age of nine. He knew at this early age that the trumpet would be his instrument of choice, and so it was that he began to embark upon his musical journey that would later develop into a rewarding career. Time proceeded, as did Solomon’s desire to grow musically and to further cultivate his musical awareness, Solomon began his college education at Kentucky State University (Historically Black College and University) and Wayne State University immediately after high school graduation. His accomplishments, thus far, include music education in public, private and charter schools, performing, and instrumental demonstrations for various grade levels. Solomon has served as mentor/member of the Civic Jazz Orchestra (CJO), a jazz education youth outreach program funded by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Solomon is quite proud of his accomplishments, such as performing at the Ford International Jazz Festivals as well participating in the Tercentennial Anniversary of Detroit’s filming project by the IMAX Theaters. Solomon has recorded and performed with saxophonist Wes Anderson, Walker West Music Academy, Lrenee Neo Soul Album "2nd Chances", and performed with Delfeay Marsalis “Jazz and Jasmine Meets the Jazz band”, and the St. Paul MN Selby Jazz Festivals 2008-2011. Solomon aspires to continue as a successful educator, performer, and role model in the fine and performing arts and feels that with his skillset, experience, and diligence, these endeavors will become more attainable.
